A wedding can be the most amazing and happy moment in someones life. Or it can be a stress filled day full of anguish and anxiety. Planning a wedding is difficult and time consuming. Not only do you have to deal with separate families traveling into town, but also separate ideals and backgrounds. Not to mention the planning, down to the wedding cake and what type of alcohol (if any) will be served. But with proper planning, a wedding can go off without a problem. Start Early A lot of engaged couples make the mistake of waiting to long to make plans. Depending no the venue and time of year, this could be very costly and stressful. For one thing, banquet halls and restaurants can be booked to capacity, or prices can go up. Ideally once a date is set, the foundation for the wedding should be laid out. Not only for you, but for any guests who are planning on coming. Talk to Others You should ideally speak with other people you know who have recently married. They probably made a lot of mistakes, most likely they would be more than willing to help you avoid those. This can be more beneficial if they had the same wedding style, for example a large wedding. Keep it Small Of course you do not want to leave anyone out. But many people make the mistake of inviting too many people to a wedding. Inviting distant relatives, or people you are not close to can add a lot of stress. Not only that, but they are less likely to attend anyways. Keeping the affair small will ensure that people get along, and it does not get out of hand in regards to planning. Keep Organized It is imperative to keep organized with a calendar, or some sort of planning event. it is very easy to forget simple things, like interviewing a baker. With a planner, you can know when things are going to come up, and be much more prepared. Delegate Tasks Family and friends will certainly assist in the planning if you ask. In fact many people will enjoy it. Having someone to help send out wedding invitations or helping guests with travel arrangements can go far. This can be especially helpful if you know someone who works in a related field. For example if a friend is a travel agent or works in a stationery store. Off Season Planning a wedding is stressful enough, but if done during the height of wedding season, it can be worse. Consider choosing a month or so before the wedding season gets into full gear. It may be cheaper for guests to fly, and it certainly will be cheaper and much easier to find good help. Budget You should decide on a budget and stick to it. If things are getting out of control, you can always have a cheaper substitute. For example, having a simple iPod hooked to speakers can replace a DJ. Over-spending can obviously be stressful enough. A wedding that is well planned for in advance should have no problem. It is important to remember the wedding is about the two people getting married. So it should be catered to their wants and tastes. Including who is invited, the attire worn, and even food preferences. An organized wedding plan, done well in advance will certainly go smoothly.
